Welcome to CivicSpark Academy a dynamic and engaging 4-Module workshop series designed specifically for middle school youth. During these sessions, we will embark on a journey to demystify the world of civic engagement, nurture creative expressions of civic responsibility, and instill confidence in the democratic process.

Module 1: Civics Crash Course

Demystifying the Voting Process, Roles of Elected Officials, and Civic Impact

In the first Module, we will dive into the fundamentals of civics. Through interactive discussions and activities, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the voting process, explore the crucial roles played by elected officials, and grasp the profound impact of active civic participation. Through engaging simulations, students will have the opportunity to navigate the complexities of government structures and develop a sense of their own civic responsibilities.

Module 2: Public Advocacy

Expressing Civic Responsibility through Creative Workshops

In the second Module, we will harness the power of the youth voice in shaping their community. Participants will engage in hands-on activities, storytelling, and real-world examples; they will learn what it means to get involved, raise awareness, and influence positive change - even before they are voting age..

Module 3: Mock Elections

Simulated Voting Experience to Instill Confidence in Democracy

Building on the knowledge gained in the previous Modules, the third installment introduces students to the democratic process through Mock Elections. Participants will actively engage in the electoral process by nominating candidates, creating campaign materials, and casting simulated votes. This Module aims to introduce and reveal the voting booth, instill confidence in participating in real elections, and foster a sense of responsibility for shaping their community's future.

Module 4: Reflection and Action Plan

Reflecting on Learnings and Creating Personal Action Plans for Civic Engagement

The final Module serves as a reflective moment for students to discuss key takeaways from the workshop series. Participants will create personal action plans outlining specific steps they can take to be more civically engaged in their communities. Guest speakers, including local community leader and elected official, will share insights on the importance of youth engagement and inspire the students to take an active role in shaping their civic futures.

Together, let's ignite the flame of social responsibility and embark on this transformative journey towards a brighter, more empowered future!

Youth civic engagement in urban communities is vital for achieving inclusive representation, addressing systemic challenges, fostering community empowerment, and shaping a future that reflects the aspirations and needs of the younger generation.
